Your new role

As Bookkeeper, you'll take responsibility for day‑to‑day bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of SME clients, working closely with experienced colleagues who are happy to train and support you. While the role is rooted in core bookkeeping, there is clear training provided into VAT, management accounts and more complex work over time, should you wish to progress. This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role within a collaborative office environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day‑to‑day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
  • Bank and control account reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT returns (with support where needed)
  • Assisting with monthly and quarterly management accounts
  • Reviewing bookkeeping entries and resolving queries
  • Supporting clients with Xero cloud accounting software
  • Liaising with HMRC when required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Studying or open to studying AAT (Level 2-4)
  • Exposure to bookkeeping and VAT
  • Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Confident, friendly communication skills and a reliable, team‑focused approach

Salary between £25,000 - £35,000, depending on experience and hours. Training and support into more complex accounting work.
