Birmingham (Hybrid Working) 📅 Initial 6-Month Contract We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a large local authority's Children and Families Directorate on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale transformation, improvement and change programmes that support better outcomes for children, young people and families. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, drive continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with senior stakeholders to support the directorate's strategic priorities. The Role As Project Manager, you will be responsible for defining, developing and delivering a portfolio of projects and work streams across the Children and Families Directorate. You will work as part of the continuous improvement and project management function, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, effectively and provide value for money. Key responsibilities include: Leading the delivery of complex and high-profile projects and transformation programmes. Supporting the development and implementation of robust project and programme management frameworks. Managing project plans, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies to ensure successful delivery. Leading and motivating project teams, including Business Analysts and Project Support Officers. Providing expert advice on project management methodologies, service improvement and performance management. Developing and maintaining project governance, reporting and assurance processes. Evaluating project performance and presenting progress updates to internal and external stakeholders. Supporting the development of a culture of continuous improvement across the Directorate and wider stakeholder community. Producing programme delivery plans and highlighting risks, issues and mitigation strategies. Supporting the development of performance measures, quality standards and monitoring frameworks. Contributing to the delivery of organisational change programmes that improve outcomes for children, young people and families. Acting as a subject-matter expert within the Improvement and Change Team. Supporting innovation, collaboration and the adoption of best practice project management approaches across the Directorate. About You Essential Experience Significant experience delivering complex projects and transformation programmes within a large organisation. Proven track record of managing multiple stakeholders and driving project delivery in challenging environments. Experience of programme and project governance, business change and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience managing project budgets, resources and performance reporting. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and change management principles. Experience supporting organisational transformation, service improvement or modernisation programmes.Essential Skills Project and programme management. Change and transformation delivery. Risk and issue management. Budget and resource management. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Performance management and reporting. Excellent communication and influencing skills.Desirable Experience working within Children's Services, Education, Social Care or Local Government. Relevant project management qualification such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or APM. Experience of continuous improvement methodologies and service redesign.Why Apply?
