Overview
Hays are recruiting a Highways Inspector to support a busy team within a local council. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced highway inspector to contribute to ensuring the effective monitoring, safety, and compliance of the Authority's highway infrastructure.
You will play a key role in delivering both planned and ad-hoc inspections to verify and monitor the performance of service providers, ensuring all contractual obligations are being met to the required technical, legal, and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of compliance with technical, service, and legal standards relating to the Authority's highway infrastructure.
- Conduct inspections and audits to:
- Measure service provider performance against contractual requirements.
- Deliver the planned and ad hoc inspection programme effectively.
- Provide clear, balanced, and evidence-based performance assessments.
- Record all findings accurately using required systems/equipment to ensure verifiable and auditable records.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong knowledge of services provided within the Highways Division, the Authority's statutory highway obligations, and key stakeholder issues.
- Proven experience in auditing or verifying service delivery, ideally within a highway's environment.
- Experience conducting inspections and providing clear, verifiable performance feedback.
- Understanding of local authority service delivery and contractor performance frameworks.
- LANTRA qualification - ESSENTIAL
- Own vehicle and Full UK Driving Licence - ESSENTIAL
