Job Description
Your new company
\n Assistant Management Accountant Worcester | £32,000 - £35,000 | Full Study Support | Permanent, Full-time
\n Are you looking to take the next step in your finance career and gain broader exposure to management accounting?
\n An established and growing manufacturing business in Worcester is looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a good grounding in finance who wants to develop their month-end and management accounting experience, with full ACCA/CIMA study support and a clear progression pathway.
\n The business is open to candidates at different stages of their development.
You might be an AAT-qualified Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant looking for your first real step into management accounts, or you may already be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA and looking for a role offering broader responsibilities and long-term progression.
Your new role
\n Joining a close-knit finance team of four, you will initially gain a strong understanding of the company's transactional finance processes before gradually taking on greater responsibility across month end, reporting and analysis.
\n Your responsibilities will develop to include:
\n \n
- Supporting transactional finance activities and gaining a detailed understanding of the company's financial processes
\n - Preparing prepayments, accruals and journals
\n - Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
\n - Supporting WIP accounting and analysis
\n - Assisting with the monthly management accounts process
\n - Supporting the month-end close and financial reporting
\n - Producing and analysing financial and operational reports
\n - Supporting costing, margin analysis and cost-control activities
\n - Maintaining the fixed asset register and assisting with asset reconciliations
\n - Supporting cash-flow forecasting
\n - Assisting with year-end audit requirements
\n - Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders
\n - Supporting improvements to finance processes, systems and data
\n - Becoming increasingly involved in management accounting activities as your experience develops
\n
\n - What you'll need to succeed
- \n \n
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role
\n - Exposure to prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
\n - Previous exposure to WIP/work-in-progress accounting
\n - Some understanding of month-end processes, or a strong desire to develop within this area
\n - Strong numerical and analytical skills
\n - Good Excel skills
\n - Excellent attention to detail
\n - A proactive attitude and genuine desire to learn and progress
\n
\n You may be AAT qualified/studying AAT and looking to begin ACCA or CIMA, or already part-qualified ACCA/CIMA.
Previous manufacturing experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
What you'll get in return
\n This is a genuinely developmental position rather than a role where you'll be expected to know everything from day one.
\n You'll initially build your knowledge of the company's finance processes before gradually taking on additional responsibilities, including audit exposure and increasing involvement with month-end and management accounts.
\n For someone ambitious, it offers an excellent opportunity to develop into a well-rounded management accountant while completing a professional qualification.
\n What's on offer?
\n \n
- Full ACCA/CIMA study support
\n - Clear progression and development opportunities
\n - 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
\n - Permanent, full-time position
\n - 37-hour working week
\n - Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
\n - Worcester location
\n - Supportive, close-knit finance team
\n
\n The position is fully office-based five days per week, so candidates will need to be comfortable commuting to Worcester on a daily basis. - What you need to do now
