I am working with a well-established business, based in Wigan, who are seeking an Assistant Accountant / Management Accountant to join their team. With ambitious plans for continued expansion, the business is now seeking an additional finance professional to strengthen its established head office team. In your new role as Assistant / Management Accountant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function while taking ownership of the production of monthly management accounts. This is a varied and commercially focused position offering exposure to multiple business entities and a large portfolio of projects and contracts. A significant element of the role involves analysing contract profitability and performance. Every project is reviewed in detail, with income, expenditure and margins monitored closely to provide meaningful management information to the wider business. Working with large volumes of data, you will prepare and present detailed financial analysis, assist with month-end reporting, produce accruals and prepayments, support budgeting and forecasting activities and provide financial insight to operational stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience producing monthly management accounts (or have knowledge of this and keen to expand into this area of accounts) and be comfortable working within a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. You will possess a solid understanding of accruals, prepayments and revenue recognition principles, alongside strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial information effectively. You will be confident communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, explaining financial performance and supporting operational decision-making. Experience of project, contract or profitability analysis would be highly advantageous, although the business is willing to train and develop an individual who has a strong foundation in management accounting and is eager to progress their career. In return, you will receive a salary of Β£35,000 to Β£40,000 alongside a comprehensive benefits package and genuine opportunities for development. The business offers study support, an annual profit-share bonus scheme, Death in Service benefit, Critical Illness cover, an enhanced pension scheme linked to length of service, increasing annual leave entitlement and enhanced sick pay provisions. The organisation is known for its flexible and supportive culture. Whilst the role is predominantly office-based, management adopts a pragmatic approach to flexibility and understands the importance of work-life balance. Employees benefit from flexible start and finish times, free onsite parking and the opportunity to work within a friendly and collaborative finance team during an exciting period of growth.
