Your new company

\n Your new company is a leader in their field based in Stoke-on-Trent and is looking for a Management Accountant who is looking to develop into a Financial Controller position over the next 2 years.

Your new role

\n Your new role will include but not be limited to: \n Management Accountant (Progression to Financial Controller - 2 Year Pathway)

  • \n \n
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary \n
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management \n
  • Assist with group reporting, statutory accounts, and external audits \n
  • Ensure tax and regulatory compliance \n
  • Support payroll and pension submissions \n
  • Maintain financial records \n
  • Monitor foreign currency transactions and investment reporting \n
  • Assist with oversight of international subsidiary \n
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls, and reporting \n \n

\n Progression Responsibilities (Over 2 Years)

  • \n \n
  • Take ownership of full financial control, including internal controls and risk management \n
  • Lead and develop the finance team \n
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy \n
  • Manage cash flow and treasury \n
  • Provide commercial insight and decision support to the MD \n
  • Lead group reporting and statutory compliance \n \n

\n Additional Development Areas

  • \n \n
  • Company secretarial duties: statutory records, Companies House filings, board support, governance \n
  • HR support: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and workforce planning \n
  • IT oversight: liaise with providers, support systems optimisation and data protection \n
  • Operational support: collaborate across teams, improve efficiency, support cost and performance management \n \n
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • \n \n
  • Part-qualified or qualified ACCA/ CIMA \n
  • Experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role (manufacturing experience desirable). \n
  • Strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial reporting. \n
  • Progress into a Financial Controller role within a structured timeframe. \n
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (IRIS Exchequer advantageous). \n
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. \n
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership and develop into a leadership role. \n
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.
