Your new company
A respected and well-established educational organisation based in Plymouth is seeking a proactive and hands-on Finance Manager to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a values-driven environment that supports learning and development, while taking ownership of the finance function and playing a key role in the organisation's continued success.
Your new role
As Finance Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day finance operations within an education setting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. You will manage ledgers, lead month-end processes, and support the production of statutory accounts. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including fee-related transactions.
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations and assisting with budgeting and forecasting for the academic year.
  • Maintaining cashflow forecasts and submitting VAT returns.
  • Liaising with auditors and supporting the annual audit process.
  • Driving improvements in systems and processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in a finance or accountancy role, ideally within education or a similar sector.
  • Strong technical skills with advanced Excel and experience using accounting systems (Sage desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including academic and administrative teams.
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or part-qualified with relevant experience).
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a term-based environment.
