A well-established energy & environmental consultancy business is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Manager to support the finance function during a maternity cover. Operating across the UK and Ireland, the business works on complex infrastructure projects and has built a strong reputation within its sector. With a collaborative culture and a stable leadership team, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking for a long-term interim assignment.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and play a key role in delivering accurate financial and management reporting. This is a 12-month interim assignment commencing in September 2026, with a detailed handover period running through to November 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts from start to finish.
  • Month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and reconciliations.
  • VAT accounting, audit support and statutory reporting activities.
  • Management of intercompany transactions, revenue recognition, provisions and taxation matters.
  • Maintaining financial accuracy across multiple entities, including overseas branch reporting.
  • Supporting the Finance Director with board reporting and business performance analysis.
  • Working with stakeholders across the wider business on finance projects and operational improvements.

The role is a hybrid arrangement of 2-3 days per week in the South Manchester office.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent finance qualification.
  • Proven experience operating at Finance Manager level within an SME or mid-sized organisation.
  • Strong management accounting experience and ability to produce accounts independently.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Experience managing month-end reporting, audits, VAT and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate effectively across the business.
  • Available to commence the assignment in September 2026.
