Your new company Hays are delighted to be working exclusively with a family-owned SME manufacturer with a prestigious product to recruit their next Financial Controller & Company Secretary. The company has a great culture and is based just outside Birmingham city centre to the south. In addition to superb benefits including bonus and 1-day hybrid working, the company gives an extra 1-day off per calendar month on a Friday.
Your new role Working closely with the Managing Director this is a number one role within a busy finance function leading a team of 2. The role is a nice blend of day-to-day Controller but also involved in improvements to financial reporting and attending the monthly board meetings. Key duties are outlined below:
- Developing financial strategies, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting.
- Regular budget consolidation.
- Cash flow management.
- Improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
- Payroll processing.
- Working closely with management or executive teams to share reports and analysis findings.
- Management accounting including analysis and reporting.
- Preparation of month-end financials to a tight reporting timetable.
- Preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
- Monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliation review.
- Manage external and internal audits.
- Cashflow forecasting and tracking.
- Support ad hoc projects - To improve processes, systems, and efficiencies throughout our company operations.
What you'll need to succeed We are looking for a fully Qualified candidate who is either operating at Finance Manager or Controller already and who is used to a hands-on multi-faceted role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading a small team, overseeing the A-Z of the role, plus be comfortable working with the MD and the board on presenting the numbers. The role is mainly office-based but does offer 1 day per week hybrid working. A previous knowledge of manufacturing or similar sectors would also be hugely beneficial.
