Haysis delighted to be partneringexclusively with Moray Council to recruit an Accountant into their FinancialServices team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant whois looking to make a meaningful impact within a progressive local authoritywhile developing strong business partnering relationships across a diverserange of services. Based within the Accountancy section, this role offers theopportunity to support key financial decision-making, influence servicedelivery and contribute to the effective management of public finances acrossthe Council.

Your new role

As Accountant,you will be responsible for delivering core accountancy services across a broadportfolio of service areas while acting as a trusted finance business partnerto budget holders, senior managers and stakeholders throughout theorganisation. Working closely with Senior Accountants, you will play a key rolein the preparation of annual accounts, financial planning activities, revenuebudget monitoring, capital accounting, statutory returns and grant claims.

You will providehigh-quality financial advice and insight to support effective decision-making,ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and delivered withinstatutory deadlines. The role will also involve preparing business cases,option appraisals and financial reports, as well as supporting budget managerswith financial management and governance responsibilities. In addition, youwill take responsibility for the supervision, development and performance offinance support staff, helping to drive continuous improvement and maintainhigh professional standards across the team.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successfulin this role, you will be a fully qualified CCAB or CIMA Accountant with provenUK accountancy experience. You will have strong technical accounting knowledgeand the ability to interpret financial regulations, accounting standards and legislationwhile communicating complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders.

You will behighly organised, capable of managing competing priorities and confidentworking to challenging deadlines without compromising on accuracy. Strongcommunication and relationship-building skills will be essential, alongside theability to influence stakeholders, provide financial advice and buildcredibility across the organisation. Experience within a local governmentenvironment would be advantageous, although candidates from other sectors withthe right technical expertise and commercial mindset are encouraged to apply. Aproactive approach, strong customer focus and the ability to lead, motivate anddevelop others will be key to your success.
