Your new company
You'll be joining a well‑established and highly regarded independent accountancy and advisory firm based in South Manchester. The firm has a strong reputation for working closely with owner‑managed businesses and entrepreneurial clients, providing commercially focused tax advice rather than purely compliance‑led services. With a growing advisory pipeline and a collaborative culture, the business continues to invest in the development of its tax offering and its people.
Your new role
As a Tax Planning Manager, you will take on a mixed tax role covering both corporate and personal tax work for owner‑managed business clients. The position combines oversight of higher‑level compliance with the opportunity to become more involved in tax planning and advisory work over time. You will support corporate and personal tax planning projects, including areas such as profit extraction, restructures, succession planning and transactional support, working closely with more senior colleagues as your advisory experience develops. You will also manage and review work prepared by junior team members, acting as a key point of contact for clients on day‑to‑day tax matters while gradually building confidence in more complex advisory engagements.
What you'll need to succeed
A solid grounding in corporate and personal tax compliance is important, but deep advisory experience is not essential. Instead, you should have a genuine interest in developing your tax planning and advisory skills over time. Strong technical fundamentals, a proactive approach, and the ability to build relationships with owner‑managed business clients will be key. Candidates at Assistant Manager level looking to step up, or Managers seeking a broader mixed‑tax and planning‑focused role, would suit this opportunity well.
What you'll get in return
In return, you'll join a forward‑thinking firm offering a genuine advisory role with a varied and interesting workload. The position provides clear progression opportunities, exposure to high‑value tax planning work, and the chance to shape client relationships and service delivery. A competitive salary is on offer, alongside flexible and hybrid working, a supportive team environment, and a strong focus on work‑life balance.
