Your new company: Hays Senior Finance are pleased to be partnering with a small but growing retail/wholesale business based in Bromsgrove as they look to recruit a Financial Controller to cover a period of maternity leave. Our client is a leading designer and distributor of premium brands, known for their innovation, quality and exceptional customer service. They are passionate about delivering stylish and sustainable solutions to their global client base.
Your new role: In this number one role, and reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will manage all aspects of the company's financial operations and play a pivotal part in key day-to-day activities whilst maintaining robust financial controls.
Main duties:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance department
- Review and completion of month-end together with the production of information for Senior Management
- Annual statutory accounts preparation and lead external audit
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Production and submission of quarterly VAT returns
- Monthly sales analysis reporting
- Identify and drive process improvements
- Manage and support a small team
What you'll need to succeed:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Previous experience of working as a Financial Controller (or similar) in a busy SME finance function
- Detailed understanding of key day-to-day financial activities to include management accounting, statutory accounting, cashflow and VAT
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-lasting relationships at all levels
- Comfortable working in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- Proficient with finance systems (Sage 200 highly advantageous) and strong Excel skills to analyse/manipulate large data sets
