Your new company Hays is delighted to be partnering with a well-established organisation operating within the energy sector, supporting complex, project-led operations across multiple business units. The business places strong emphasis on robust financial governance, commercial insight and operational efficiency, offering finance professionals the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement across the group.
Your new role As Management Accountant, you will support the Financial Controller across a broad and hands-on remit, taking ownership of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and cash flow forecasting. You will lead the month-end close process, oversee working capital performance and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with UK GAAP and internal controls. The role also has a strong commercial focus, supporting weekly KPI reporting, tender submissions and financial modelling, while analysing cost bases to ensure appropriate labour and overhead recovery. In addition, you will contribute to operational improvements, working capital optimisation, ERP and finance system enhancements, and external audit processes, while providing day-to-day guidance to an Assistant Accountant. This is a varied and influential role suited to a commercially minded Management Accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven energy environment.
What you'll need to succeed You will have experience in a similar management accounting or financial analysis role. Experience with Sage Cloud, Sage 200 and Power BI is preferred but not essential. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines and working both independently.
What you'll get in return In return, you will secure a broad and commercially focused Management Accountant position within the energy sector, offering exposure across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and business support. You will work closely with senior leadership, gain involvement in strategic and operational initiatives, and be supported in your ongoing professional development within a growing and dynamic organisation.
