The Museum has an established programme of both monthly and annual public events that are well supported and attended. We are looking for an experienced Events Manager to lead the small events team, building on the success of these existing events, and driving the growth of our car club and group visits offering. The Events Manager will plan, lead and deliver our on-site events, including the monthly Sunday morning Haynes Breakfast Club car meets, several summer evening themed car, bike and other vehicle meets, summertime monthly car boot sales, the annual Autojumble event and the John Haynes Classic Motor Show.
Reporting directly to the CEO and managing one direct report, you will work closely with and have the support of all other departments across the Museum, as well as formally sitting on the management group. You will oversee and deliver high-quality events that drive visitor engagement, income generation and community participation. You will also help to coordinate and represent the Museum at selected off-site motoring events and external stands.
About Us
Haynes Motor Museum is one of the South West’s leading visitor attractions, welcoming over 125,000 visitors each year. An independent UK charity established by John Haynes OBE, the Museum is home to the UK’s largest exhibition of cars and motorbikes, charting motoring history from 1898 to the present day. All proceeds support our charitable aims, conserving the collection, inspiring future generations and delivering learning and engagement activities that celebrate motoring heritage and innovation.
About You
First and foremost, event management will be in your DNA. You will ideally have three to five years’ events management experience and you may be currently working in-house or agency side; perhaps you are looking for your first step up managing a small team or equally you may already be in a management position looking for a fresh challenge. Previous experience with car enthusiasts’ events is not essential, we’ll help you get up to speed on that, but you must be a proactive and highly organised events professional with experience planning, delivering and managing medium-scale public events (Breakfast Clubs circa 1,500 people, the John Haynes Classic over 4,000 visitors). You will be confident in coordinating complex logistics, managing budgets, and ensuring an exceptional visitor experience. You will be an effective communicator and team leader who thrives under tight timelines and brings both creativity and practical problem-solving skills.
