Parts Supervisor, Canterbury
Haynes Bros. Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Parts Supervisor to oversee the day-to‑day operations of our parts departments across two Canterbury sites.
Reporting to the Parts Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of both departments, maintaining stock accuracy, supporting workshop operations, and leading a team of Parts Advisors to deliver excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:30, with a 60‑minute lunch break.
- Every other Saturday morning (paid additionally as a fixed fee).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the parts departments across both Canterbury locations.
- Lead, motivate and support a team of 3-4 Parts Advisors.
- Maintain high standards of customer service for both retail and trade customers.
- Ensure workshop technicians receive the correct parts efficiently and without delay.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, stock returns, obsolescence and stock accuracy.
- Analyse stock requirements and place orders to maintain availability whilst controlling costs.
- Ensure all parts transactions are processed accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the Parts Manager in achieving departmental objectives and profitability targets.
- Build strong working relationships with workshop, service and sales departments.
About You
- Previous experience within a motor trade parts department is essential.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or senior parts role would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, inventory control and parts systems.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong IT skills and experience of dealership management systems.
