Job Purpose

To provide high-quality servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of ground care and turf machinery — includingride‑on mowers, cylinder mowers, compact tractors, ATVs/UTVs, chainsaws, strimmers, blowers and amenity equipment.

Work is carried out both in our Alton workshop and on customer sites.

You will ensure machinery is reliable, safe andperforming at its best while upholding the Haynes reputation for professionalism and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faults using manufacturer diagnostic tools and manuals.
  • Carry out scheduled servicing, PDIs, winter preparation and warranty work.
  • Attend field service calls at golf courses, estates, sports grounds and local authority sites.
  • Maintain accurate digital job cards, timesheets and service records.
  • Comply with all health & safety practices and complete risk assessments.
  • Provide technical advice and build long-term customer relationships.
  • Support apprentices and junior technicians where required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised van, tools and workspace.

Person Specification

  • Experience as a Ground Care Technician or similar small-engine/turf equipment mechanic.
  • Level 3 Land-based Engineering, Horticultural Machinery or equivalent qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence (BE trailer entitlement an advantage).
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and small-engine diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently on site and as part of a busy depot team.
  • Professional communication and customer-focused attitude.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience with Husqvarna, Honda, Kawasaki or similar brands.
  • Knowledge of cylinder mower grinding and reel maintenance.
  • Basic IT skills in dealer management systems.
