Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer
Location: Ingleburn, NSW Employment Type: Full Time
An established Australian product and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting several product brands and manufacturing operations.
This role combines project management, mechanical engineering, product development, and industrial design support within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of engineering and product-related projects from concept through to production, coordinating internal stakeholders, suppliers, manufacturers, and external service providers.
The position is ideally suited to someone with strong organisational and communication skills who also has practical engineering capability and an appreciation for product design, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering and product development projects from concept through to production
  • Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, suppliers, and internal resources
  • Work closely with manufacturing, tooling suppliers, and external contractors
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, action lists, and technical documentation
  • Create and review 3D CAD models and production drawings using SolidWorks
  • Support industrial design development and product refinement
  • Assist with injection moulded product development and tooling reviews
  • Coordinate prototypes, testing, validation, and implementation activities
  • Produce and maintain specification sheets and technical documentation
  • Support product certification and compliance activities
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical and project-related matters
  • Support continuous improvement and engineering process development
  • Maintain organised engineering records, revision control, and BOM structures
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Proven experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Mechanical engineering or product design background
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Experience coordinating suppliers, contractors, and manufacturers
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and product development workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Highly Desirable
  • Familiarity with industrial design principles and product aesthetics
  • Experience with product development
  • Experience with rendering or product visualisation software
  • Understanding of tooling, DFM, and manufacturing constraints
  • Experience working within an ISO9001 environment
  • Experience with specification sheets and technical documentation
  • Exposure to certification or compliance processes
