An experienced Building Surveyor who is a Class 2A (or above) Registered Building Inspector is required by an Essex Local Authority to carry out full scope of work within the registered competence level. In order to be considered for this position you must have passed your competency assessment and be registered with the BSR. You must also hold a relevant RICS accredited degree/HNC or equivalent and either hold or be eligible for full membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB.
This will initially be offered as a 3 month contract, but could potentially be extended beyond this. You will be actively involved in promoting the service delivery of building control and achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction so as to meet the Council's policy of customer care and to maintain and improve market position.
Day to day your role will focus on the following:
- Carry out agreed procedures to provide effective and efficient building control services.
- Examination of plans and other associated matters for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Liaise with applicants, agents, consultants or statutory bodies and members of the public.
- Carry out site inspections and testing of building works for compliance with building regulations and associated legislations.
- Carry out all normal measures and as directed, any further action to ensure enforcement of building regulations and associated legislation.
- Deal with applications for relaxation and dispensation.
