THE ROLE
Working directly with a Finance Business Partner, you will take ownership of the management accounting for one or more divisions across Haymarket. You will act as a trusted financial contact for key stakeholders, supporting them with insightful analysis, accurate forecasting, and commercial advice to help drive divisional performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management Accounts Ownership: Prepare accurate, timely monthly management accounts for your assigned division(s), taking full accountability for the P&L and financial position.
- Commercial Commentary & Variance Analysis: Produce and distribute monthly financial reporting packs, delivering clear narrative on variances against budget and prior forecasts to help tell the story behind the numbers.
- Planning & Forecasting: Play an active role in driving annual budgeting, 3-year business planning, and monthly rolling forecasts alongside the Finance Business Partner.
- Financial Integrity & Controls: Oversee month-end ledger integrity by posting journals, managing accruals and prepayments and keeping balance sheet reconciliations airtight.
- Business Partnering & Challenge: Attend and credibly contribute to meetings, positively challenging business assumptions and offering fact-led guidance to budget holders.
- Scenario Analysis & Uncertainty: Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis where necessary to help the business navigate market uncertainty.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor internal controls, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve financial reporting, processes, and systems.
- Audit & Ad Hoc Support: Manage audit queries for your division(s) and lead on ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Works closely with Budget Holders across functions and the Finance Business Partner to build effective, high-trust working relationships, share financial insight, and contribute directly to the successful delivery of divisional business objectives.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / MINIMUM CRITERIA
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of management accounting principles, variance analysis, and core financial controls. Actively studying towards, or finalist/newly qualified in, a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA). Strong working knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Familiarity with finance software/ERPs and reporting tools; experience with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides) is a plus.
- Skills: Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate, analyse, and extract meaningful insights from large datasets. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial numbers into clear, accessible messages for non-finance budget holders. Exceptional attention to detail combined with a 'value-add' mindset—able to spot errors, investigate anomalies, and propose practical solutions. Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet tight month-end deadlines. Flexible, receptive to new ideas, and deeply committed to collaborating with and supporting the wider finance team.
- Experience: Practical experience in preparing management accounts, journal processing, and balance sheet reconciliations. Proven experience building relationships with non-finance stakeholders and budget holders. Demonstrated experience in seeking out and implementing process improvements.
ABOUT YOU
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Inquisitive Nature & Commercial Curiosity: You naturally look beyond the ledger to discover the 'why' behind the numbers and understand how operational decisions impact financial results.
- Proactive Ownership: You take personal pride and accountability for your numbers, delivering airtight financial accuracy without needing constant oversight.
- Constructive Challenger: You have the confidence to ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and guide budget holders toward better financial decisions.
- Growth Mindset: You actively seek out new challenges, take ownership of your personal development, and thrive in an environment that encourages continuous learning.

- Strong Stakeholder Trust: Establishing yourself as a trusted, approachable financial advisor to divisional budget holders and a dependable right hand to your Finance Business Partner.
