What Car? has been Britain's leading source of car buying advice for more than 50 years, and is now looking for an experienced reviewer to join its car testing team. The successful candidate will report to the reviews editor and be responsible for writing both single‐car reviews and comparison tests, across digital and print, as well as presenting on camera for What Car?'s successful YouTube channel. This will involve thinking about the needs of car buyers, and how well the latest models meet them; the ability to get this across in a clear, informative and entertaining way is far more important than having an encyclopedic knowledge of cars past and present.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test drive and research new cars, and write (or present) reviews to tight deadlines.
  • Write comparison tests that help prospective buyers decide which car will best meet their needs.
  • Work with other members of the reviews team to ensure What Car? gets early access to new models.
  • Work with the SEO and social media managers to ensure content reaches the biggest possible audience.

Your skills, experience and knowledge/ Minimum role criteria

  • A love of writing, and an aptitude for producing copy that's both engaging and informative.
  • Willingness to present on camera for What Car?'s YouTube channel.
  • An interest in cars of all types; What Car?'s mission is to help real‐world car buyers.
  • The ability to put aside personal preferences and put yourself in the shoes of the people a car is aimed at.
  • A rigorous, methodical and fair approach.
  • A safety‐conscious and professional attitude to driving.

We are a Disability Confident employer and offer guaranteed interviews to all disabled applicants who meet the above minimum criteria. To be considered as part of this initiative, please ensure you indicate if you have a disability when applying for the post.
