Our client is looking to recruit a Residential Conveyancing Assistant into its York office. This is a great opportunity to join a busy, well-established team where you’ll support residential solicitors across the full conveyancing lifecycle, from instruction through to post-completion. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting residential solicitors with conveyancing matters up to and following completion
  • Providing purchase, sale and remortgage quotes to clients
  • Preparing estimates of costs and initial client paperwork
  • Handling identification documents and supporting AML processes
  • Keeping clients updated throughout the transaction in a professional and efficient manner
  • Requesting searches, redemption statements, deeds and other documents from the Land Registry, search providers, lenders and other third parties
  • Drafting contract packs to a buyer’s solicitor
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents and third parties by phone, email and in person
  • Ensuring client information is recorded accurately within the case management system
  • Saving documents correctly and maintaining consistent file naming within the case management system
  • Preparing bills and supporting financial documentation
  • Supporting exchange of contracts and organising completions
  • Updating and closing matter files and maintaining accurate client data
  • Completing post-completion work, including SDLT returns, Land Registry applications and deeds schedules
  • Supporting compliance with quality standards, company policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • At least 2 years’ experience working as a Residential Conveyancing Assistant
  • Good working knowledge of the residential conveyancing process from instruction to post-completion
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Confident prioritising tasks and managing conflicting priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and confident using a legal case management system

Desirable

  • Experience preparing bills and handling financial documentation
  • Experience drafting SDLT returns and Land Registry applications
