Job Description
Commercial Property Senior Lawyer
Location: York
Salary: £65,000 to £90,000 plus bonus and benefits
Experience: Senior level (likely 6+ years’ PQE or equivalent)
If you are a commercial property lawyer with strong experience in property projects and you want high-quality work, a supportive team and genuine flexibility, this is a standout opportunity in York.
Our client is expanding their established Commercial Property team and is looking to appoint a senior lawyer to take on a specialist caseload and play an active role in the team’s future. This is a role for someone who enjoys trusted client relationships, technical work, and helping others develop, without the culture of unrealistic pressure.
You will join a close-knit team working on a broad mix of commercial property matters, with a particular focus on property projects for SME builders, landowners and infrastructure-related work (including renewables). You will have the autonomy expected at senior level, alongside the support of an experienced leadership team and a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing a varied commercial property caseload from instruction through to completion
- Advising SME builders and landowners on property transactions and related matters
- Advising on property aspects of infrastructure projects, including renewables
- Drafting, negotiating and progressing documentation with a strong focus on quality and client care
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider property team to deliver joined-up advice
- Supporting supervision and mentoring of junior colleagues
- Contributing to team collaboration and knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) with solid commercial property experience at a senior level
- Comfortable running matters with minimal supervision and taking ownership of client relationships
- Strong technical skills, drafting ability and attention to detail
- A practical, commercial approach and excellent client care
- Interest in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues
- A collaborative working style and willingness to keep learning in a specialist area
What’s On Offer
- Salary of £65,000 to £90,000 plus bonus and benefits
- Fee earner bonus scheme with realistic, role-appropriate targets
- Flexible working with core hours of 10am to 4pm
- Hybrid working (up to 50% working from home where the role allows)
- 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with long service)
- Office closure between Christmas and New Year
- Your birthday off (during your birthday month)
- Pension scheme
- Death in service cover (2x salary) and personal accident insurance
- Health cash plan and wellbeing support, including counselling and wellbeing resources
- Cycle to work scheme and commuting benefits
- Discounts on legal services
- Referral recruitment scheme
- Training and development support, including funded qualifications and study leave where appropriate
- Free car parking
- Active social committee and regular social events
Working Arrangements
Hybrid and flexible working supported, with core hours and a culture built around trust and autonomy.
