The Role: What you’ll be doing
You’ll support the tax team with day-to-day compliance work and client administration, building your technical knowledge as you go.
- Preparing personal tax returns and supporting associated compliance work
- Assisting with corporate tax computations (where exposure allows)
- Gathering information from clients and maintaining accurate records
- Supporting the team with tax deadlines, workflow tracking, and HMRC correspondence
- Using tax software to prepare returns and maintain client files
- Escalating technical queries to senior colleagues and learning through review feedback
What we’re looking for (Experience & skills):
To be considered, you’ll ideally have:
- 1–2+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience in a tax or mixed accounts/tax role
- Some hands-on exposure to tax compliance (personal tax is fine as a starting point)
- A genuine interest in developing a career in tax (personal, corporate, or mixed)
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working to deadlines
Qualifications (preferred):
Studying towards (or open to studying towards) ATT and/or CTA (or equivalent), with support available depending on your current stage.
Technical skills:
Comfortable with Excel and working with financial information. Experience using tax software is helpful (training provided if needed).
Location & Working Arrangement:
Location: Sheffield
Working pattern: Office-based with flexibility/hybrid working available depending on the team and workload (to be discussed). You should be able to commute into Sheffield as required.
