Our client is looking to recruit an Employment Solicitor (Junior Partner / Team Leader) to join their Northampton office as part of a planned growth phase. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of team development, build the practice, and be a visible figure internally and externally. The firm is not rushing this hire. They want the right person who is ready to step up into leadership, or step out into a bigger role with the support to succeed. You will be trusted to run high-quality work, develop client relationships, and help shape how the team grows over the next few years.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will lead on a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment work, acting for employer clients and also supporting employee matters. Work will include:
- Settlement agreements
- Advisory work on restructures, changes to terms and conditions, and redundancy programmes
- Strategic advice in connection with senior leadership and board-level disputes
- Day-to-day operational HR advice
- Support on data protection and employment-related compliance
- Modern Slavery Act compliance support
- Employment Tribunal representation
- Corporate support on employment aspects of M&A activity
- Alongside fee-earning, you will:
- Support and develop junior colleagues through training, supervision, and day-to-day guidance
- Play an active role in business development and relationship building
- Collaborate with wider teams on cross-referrals and joined-up client work
What We’re Looking For
- Ideally 7+ years PQE (as a guide)
- Strong employment law experience across contentious and non-contentious matters
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of complex files
- Proven leadership potential, with experience supervising, mentoring, or managing others
- Strong commercial judgement and confidence building trusted client relationships
- A practical, solutions-led approach and the ability to spot growth opportunities
