A well-established and respected law firm in Milton Keynes is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their finance team on a fixed-term temporary basis until 16 October 2026. Reporting into the finance function, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day cashiering duties across client and office accounts, ensuring full compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules 2019 throughout:
- Processing receipts, payments, and transfers across client and office accounts
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Posting and allocating financial transactions within the firm’s case management and accounts system
- Liaising with fee earners and partners to resolve financial queries promptly
- Supporting the wider accounts team as required
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring audit-readiness at all times
- Identifying and flagging any potential compliance issues in line with SRA rules
Minimum requirements:
- 1 year’s experience as a Legal Cashier within a UK law firm (in-house legal finance experience will also be considered)
- Solid working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules 2019 — you must be able to apply these confidently in practice
- Experience with legal accounts or case management software (e.g., AAT qualification (part-qualified or qualified) or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting experience)
- Previous exposure to a multi-department or multi-office legal finance environment
- Experience handling SDLT returns, VAT, or billing support
Salary up to £29,000 depending on experience. Hybrid working arrangements (specific split to be confirmed at interview). Supportive and experienced finance team. Modern offices in a central Milton Keynes location with good transport links. Immediate or short-notice start available. The chance to make a genuine contribution within a respected, established firm for the duration of the contract.
