Our client’s Construction Team in Preston is seeking a talented Solicitor (Associate/Senior Associate) with proven construction law experience to manage a varied caseload and play a key role in the team’s growth and development.
The Opportunity
- Manage a busy caseload of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious, with immediate responsibility for existing work
- Advise clients across the construction industry, including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, local councils, and homeowners
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction documentation (contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, guarantees, etc.)
- Advise on JCT, NEC, IChemE, and FIDIC contracts, as well as procurement and risk management
- Handle disputes: breach of contract, delay & disruption, loss & expense, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation in the Technology & Construction Court
- Collaborate with colleagues across service lines (commercial property, corporate, commercial)
- Support, supervise, and develop junior team members
- Contribute to business development, knowledge sharing, and team objectives
- Write blogs/LinkedIn posts and participate in client training or seminars (optional)
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE in construction law
- Experience managing own caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong technical expertise in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters (desirable)
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts (desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills
- Commercially aware, proactive, and confident in client-facing situations
- Proven business development ability and track record of building networks
- Ability to collaborate and support team development
