Our client, a respected and growing independent accountancy practice in the Leeds area, is seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified, qualified, or experienced QBE professional looking to develop their technical skills, gain greater client exposure, and progress their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking firm.

The Role

Working closely with Partners and Senior Managers, you will support a varied portfolio of clients including SMEs, owner-managed businesses, partnerships, and sole traders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end accounts for:
    • Limited companies
    • LLPs
    • Partnerships
    • Sole traders
  • Prepare corporation tax computations and returns
  • Prepare personal tax returns and self-assessment submissions
  • Liaise directly with clients regarding accounts and tax matters
  • Assist Partners and Senior Managers with ad hoc client projects
  • Support the delivery of high-quality accounting and taxation services
  • Work alongside junior and senior colleagues within a supportive team environment

About You

Essential Requirements

  • AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, fully qualified, or strong QBE candidate
  • 2-4+ years' UK accountancy practice experience
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Experience with corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of:
    • FRS 102
    • UK GAAP
    • Corporation Tax
    • Self Assessment
  • Experience using software such as:
    • Xero
    • Sage
    • QuickBooks
    • Iris, CCH, Digita, or similar
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills

Desirable

  • Audit experience, although not essential
  • Experience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses
