Our clients Construction Team in Preston is seeking a talented Solicitor (Associate/Senior Associate) with proven construction law experience to manage a varied caseload and play a key role in the team's growth and development.
The Opportunity
- Manage a busy caseload of construction matters both contentious and non‑contentious with immediate responsibility for existing work
- Advise clients across the construction industry including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, local councils and homeowners
- Draft, review and negotiate construction documentation (contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, guarantees, etc.)
- Advise on JCT, NEC, IChemE and FIDIC contracts as well as procurement and risk management
- Handle disputes: breach of contract, delay & disruption, loss & expense, adjudication, arbitration and litigation in the Technology & Construction Court
- Collaborate with colleagues across service lines (commercial, property, corporate)
- Support, supervise and develop junior team members
- Contribute to business development, knowledge sharing and team objectives
- Write blogs/LinkedIn posts and participate in client training or seminars (optional)
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE in construction law
- Experience managing own caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong technical expertise in both contentious and non‑contentious construction matters (desirable)
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts (desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
- Commercially aware, proactive and confident in client‑facing situations
- Proven business development ability and track record of building networks
- Ability to collaborate and support team development
