Are you an experienced Financial Planning professional with leadership aspirations? Do you want to combine client advisory work with team management, business development and strategic influence? Our client is seeking an ambitious Regional Financial Planning Manager to lead and develop a team of Financial Planning Consultants across the Cumbria region. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and highly respected professional services firm where you will play a pivotal role in driving client outcomes, developing advisers, and contributing to the future direction of the Financial Planning business.
With responsibility for both revenue generation and people leadership, this role offers a genuine opportunity to progress into senior leadership while working within a values-driven organisation that invests heavily in its people.
The Role:
This position can be based from Carlisle, West Cumbria or Dumfries, with regular travel required between offices to support collaboration, team development and business growth. You will combine hands-on client advisory work with management responsibilities, ensuring both commercial success and exceptional client service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic financial planning advice to individuals, families, business owners and high-net-worth clients
- Ensure clients receive ongoing, high-quality financial planning and wealth management services
- Achieve agreed personal and regional revenue targets
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Financial Planning Consultants
- Take responsibility for Training & Competence (T&C) requirements and performance management
- Drive business development activity across the region
- Build strong relationships with Partners, Directors and Managers across the wider business
- Identify cross-referral opportunities across Tax, Accountancy, Corporate Finance and other service lines
- Lead recruitment and onboarding activities for new advisers
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal governance standards
- Contribute to the strategic direction and continued growth of the Financial Planning division
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially minded financial planning professional with proven advisory experience and strong leadership capability.
Essential Requirements
- Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS or equivalent)
- 5+ years' Financial Planning / Wealth Management advisory experience
- Previous leadership, mentoring or management experience within a regulated financial services environment
- Strong technical knowledge of: Pension Planning, Investment Planning, Retirement Planning, Protection Planning, Estate & Inheritance Planning
- Detailed understanding of: FCA Conduct of Business (COBS), Code of Conduct (COCON), Consumer Duty, SYSC and Anti-Money Laundering requirements
- Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Strong business development and networking capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Requirements
- Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning
- Chartered Financial Planner status or working towards Chartered status
- Experience managing adviser performance and competency frameworks
- Knowledge of wider professional services including: Tax Advisory, Corporate Finance, Audit & Assurance, Business Advisory Services
- Experience working with business owners and high-net-worth individuals
