If you are an experienced construction lawyer and you want to join a team with real momentum, this is a brilliant time to make a move. Our client has invested heavily in their Construction and Engineering offering, with new leadership in place and ambitious plans for growth. You will be joining at a point where you can make an impact from day one, while building a long-term career in a supportive, high-performing environment.
This opportunity suits someone already operating at Senior Associate level, or an experienced Associate ready for the next step. The work is high quality, the team is well regarded in the market, and you will be encouraged to shape the next phase of growth rather than simply “slot in”.
You will advise a broad range of clients across construction, real estate and energy, working on a varied mix of complex and interesting matters. While the ideal is someone with a blend of contentious and non-contentious experience, strong non-contentious lawyers who want to broaden their practice are very much encouraged.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Advising on, drafting and negotiating standard form construction contracts, including JCT, NEC and FIDIC
- Advising on professional appointments, collateral warranties and wider construction documentation
- Supporting colleagues across Real Estate and Energy on transactions requiring construction expertise
- Advising on construction disputes and helping manage matters through adjudication, arbitration and litigation where appropriate
- Delivering commercially focused advice and building strong client relationships
- Supervising and mentoring junior colleagues as the team continues to grow
- Getting involved in business development through networking, writing articles, client training and wider marketing activity
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE in construction law
- Ideally exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work, but strong non-contentious experience is welcomed
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
- Excellent technical ability with strong commercial awareness
- Confident communicator who builds lasting relationships with clients and colleagues
- Collaborative, proactive, and motivated to contribute to a growing team
What’s On Offer
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- Your birthday off
- Option to buy or sell holiday
- Private health scheme
- Profit share scheme
- Volunteer days
- Pension and life assurance
- Generous family-friendly leave
- Wellness benefits (including onsite yoga/pilates and mental health programmes)
- Additional benefits such as discount platform, reduced travel and parking charges, and Cycle to Work scheme with secure bike storage
- The chance to get involved in clubs and committees across the firm
Working Arrangements
The role is Leeds-based, with hybrid working available (typically 2 to 3 days per week from home).
