This role suits a practice‑trained professional who values autonomy, variety, and long‑term client relationships over large‑corporate bureaucracy. The Role
- Take ownership of a diverse audit portfolio of SMEs and owner‑managed businesses, leading engagements from planning through to completion while mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
- Work closely with partners and senior leadership, playing an active role in shaping the audit function and enhancing client service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver external audit assignments from planning to completion.
- Manage both on‑site and remote audit engagements.
- Review audit files, working papers, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with ISA (UK), UK GAAP and FRS 102.
- Build trusted relationships with a portfolio of SME clients.
- Manage workflows, deadlines, and team resourcing.
- Coach and develop Audit Seniors and trainees.
- Provide practical, commercially focused advice to clients.
- Identify opportunities to improve audit processes and client experience.
About You
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience within UK accountancy practice.
- Experience operating at Audit Senior or Audit Manager level.
- Strong technical knowledge of: UK GAAP, FRS 102, ISA (UK).
- Experience managing multiple audits concurrently.
- A hands‑on, client‑focused approach.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience working with cloud‑based audit and accounting software would be beneficial.
