Our client is looking to recruit a Construction Solicitor (2+ PQE) to join a growing, award-winning team in Hale. This role is primarily contentious in the short term, with exposure to a broad range of dispute resolution work. There is also scope to develop into non-contentious work over time, with training available. You will join a team working on complex and varied construction matters, with a clear focus on development and progression. The working environment is office-based to support collaboration, learning, and day-to-day support. You will report to the Head of Construction, working closely with them to help deliver a well-run, efficient and organised team.
Key Responsibilities
- Contentious construction (primary focus)
- Advising on and running disputes arising under JCT and other construction contracts
- Handling a range of dispute resolution processes, including:
- Adjudication
- Litigation
- Arbitration
- Expert determination
- Mediation
- Providing strategic, commercially focused advice to resolve disputes cost-effectively while achieving the best possible outcome
- Taking a proactive approach to dispute avoidance and early resolution
- Non-contentious construction (scope to develop)
- Supporting on procurement and project documentation, including:
- Drafting and negotiating construction contracts
- Consultancy appointments
- Deeds of novation
- Collateral warranties
- Parent company guarantees
- Performance bonds
- General
- Maintaining high standards of client care and clear communication
- Identifying legal risks and advising on practical mitigation
- Working collaboratively with other teams to deliver joined-up solutions
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships to support long-term retention
- Working to client service standards and agreed timeframes where applicable
- Managing competing deadlines across multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date file records across ongoing cases
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years PQE as a qualified solicitor, with construction disputes experience
- Familiarity with the main forms of construction dispute resolution (adjudication, litigation, arbitration, mediation)
- Non-contentious experience is preferred but not essential
- Strong tactical judgement and commercial awareness
- Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
- Strong organisation and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Confident communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support junior colleagues
