Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager
Location: Barnsley Area, South Yorkshire
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + DOE

The Opportunity
In this pivotal management role, you will deliver high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services while taking an active hand in shaping the firm's future direction alongside Practice Directors. Balancing full portfolio ownership with team leadership, you will mentor junior accountants, oversee quality control, and lead new client onboarding and business development initiatives. This post offers a structured development plan and mentorship for rapid career advancement toward Senior Manager and Associate levels.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified with a minimum of 3+ years' post-qualification experience (PQE) within a UK accountancy practice environment.
- Portfolio & Advisory Management: Track record of managing a mixed client portfolio (SMEs, limited companies, and partnerships), delivering statutory accounts preparation, corporate tax compliance, and commercial advisory services.
- Team Leadership: Experience managing, mentoring, and co-leading accountancy staff, allocating workloads, and reviewing draft files.
- Technical & Software Systems: Proficient with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and accounts preparation systems (IRIS and MyWorkpapers preferred).
- Business Development & Client Care: Proven client-facing skills with experience conducting prospect meetings, identifying cross-referral opportunities, and driving firm growth.
