This manufacturing business based in East Lancs has grown significantly over the years with investment, increased production and customer base. They have a strong family culture running throughout the business with an impressive site, and increased headcount year on year and continue to win new business with the aim to be the market leader in the field they operate, an objective they are not far off achieving.

This is a broad, hands-on Finance Manager role offering exposure across day-to-day finance, including ledger management, VAT, and weekly payroll, management accounting and close operational support. The successful candidate will take ownership of the monthly management accounts with the support of a small team ensuring the finance function runs smoothly and to deadlines.

You will have regular interaction with senior leadership and operational teams working directly for the Finance Director and act as a trusted finance partner, providing insight into performance, challenging costs and helping the business better understand its numbers. The role is initially offered as a fixed-term opportunity, with strong potential to extend or become permanent as the business continues to evolve and embark on future systems and ERP improvements.

This position would suit someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable being hands-on, and is happy to get involved in everything from month-end close, to stock, systems and operational problem-solving.

The Requirements
  • You must have operated in a hands-on Finance Manager job or Management Accountant with managerial responsibility.
  • Strong ownership of monthly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, AP payments and VAT whilst being confident in producing P&L analysis and variance commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Ideally you will have experience in a manufacturing, production or standard costing environment with exposure to stock, cost control and operational finance - but this is not essential.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to troubleshoot systems and processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems (Sage 200 or similar beneficial).
  • A collaborative, adaptable individual who enjoys working in a small team and partnering with operations.

This position will pay up to £60,000 max (experience dependent) with enhanced benefits and a strong collaborative culture. A significant benefit is the exposure within a manufacturing environment. The Finance Director is keen to secure the right person for this long-term contract, and willing to compromise on industry experience for a strong Finance Manager / Management Accountant with managerial experience that is keen to learn.

The contract will last a minimum of 12 months - with a possibility of being extended or made permanent (circumstances and business needs dependent). Ideal start date will ideally be in April, but all candidates who can start between the end of Feb and the start of May will be considered.
