About the Company
Our client is a privately owned SME, UK-wide technical engineering business in a specialist, highly regulated environment. The business works with blue‑chip organisations and leading technology providers, deliberately focusing on specialist, higher‑value work rather than commoditised, volume‑driven services.
Following a period of market disruption and strategic change, the business has invested heavily in modern systems, automation and data, and is now entering a more structured phase of growth. Backed by a long‑term investment group, the company is focused on commercial discipline, operational performance and sustainable profitability.
About the Role
This Commercial Finance Manager job is a hands‑on, operationally embedded position with real influence across the business operating ƙar as the number one in Finance. With robust job management and finance systems now in place, the opportunity is to turn large volumes of operational data into meaningful insight that improves job costing, pricing accuracy, margin protection and engineer utilisation.
This job will own monthly management information supported by a small transactional team, whilst being close to operations, understanding how commercial decisions are made on the ground to in turn challenge assumptions to improve outcomes.

- Comfortable working in an SME environment, and getting stuck in to the detail.
- Strong commercial finance experience within operational, project‑based businesses

- Hands‑on approach with experience improving costing, pricing and margin visibility

It also offers the opportunity to step into a genuinely influential commercial role within a well‑backed business at a key point in its journey. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping how the business measures performance, prices work and protects margin, with clear scope to broaden responsibility as the organisation continues to evolve.
