This is a well‑established UK business with a strong technical and operational focus, recognised for its quality, reliability, and commitment to continuous improvement. Supplying specialist products and services to customers in the UK and overseas, the company has a long history of combining innovation with hands‑on expertise. It’s an exciting time to join, with ongoing investment in systems, data, and people to support future growth. The environment is professional yet down‑to‑earth, a place where collaborative, adaptable finance professionals can make a real impact and be part of a business that’s evolving for the future.

This job is initially for a 12 month contract covering maternity leave, however as the business evolves with a clear strategy and digital transformation, it has every possibility to be extended or even made permanent depending on the team structure and business position in 12 months time.

In this management accountant job you will be responsible for your own business division, taking ownership of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and P&L reporting. This includes revenue recognition, cost of goods sold, overhead analysis, and intercompany revaluations, as well as preparing and reviewing accruals, prepayments, and lease accounting. You’ll work closely with operational teams to understand project performance, fleet and utilities costs, and to ensure accurate, insightful reporting.

The business currently has multiple digital projects ongoing, including the rollout of multiple systems including a major ERP implementation due early next year. You’ll play a key role in supporting these projects from a finance perspective, helping to improve processes, reporting quality and data integrity.

While this is a standalone role (non‑management), it’s highly visible and requires strong business partnering skills, building relationships across departments, challenging assumptions, and helping the wider team make informed decisions. You’ll also support the Finance Manager with ad‑hoc projects, budgeting, forecasting and audit preparation, bringing energy and adaptability to a team going through significant change.

The requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will be part‑qualified or qualified (CIMA/ACCA) with solid management accounting experience, preferably gained in a complex, project‑based or engineering environment.
  • You’ll be confident using SAGE (and Excel for analysis), comfortable with large data sets, and able to pull together information from multiple systems to provide clear insights.
  • This role offers both challenge and variety, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys adding value beyond the numbers with a natural flair for business partnering non-financial stakeholders.
  • You must be positive, pragmatic and hands‑on, a self‑starter who can quickly build credibility, bring structure to their area, and help drive continuous improvement.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience, ideally between 45-55k but potentially some room for negotiation beyond, with the possibility of a retention bonus on contract completion (if not extended or made permanent). You will be joining a business that supports hybrid working, with up to 2 days at home, along with flexible start and finish times. You'll receive enhanced benefits which include additional holidays, enhanced pension, wellbeing programs and more.
