Hawksworth are now recruiting for a Ruby on Rails Engineering Manager for a prestigious Global Financial client in their Home Finance application department. This is a Permanent position in London (Hybrid working, x2 days in the office per week but that will reduce over time). Salary for this role is up to £115k base + Car allowance + Bonus + Package (Including great pension plan).

This is a new position for a new team. Ruby on Rails has been to date outsourced, and the client has brought this now back in-house with this new team which we are recruiting for now.

The job: You will report into the Head of Product Engineering leading a multidisciplinary engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll influence architecture, delivery, operational excellence and culture across the product. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Engineering Managers and operational teams to optimise flow, deliver customer value and modernise their platforms.

Essential Skills & experience:

  • You will be a strong engineering leader who builds high-performing, motivated and curious teams.
  • Strong Technical background in Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript, SQL, Cloud platforms (Azure or GCP) and cloud-native architecture, broad engineering experience across DevSecOps, automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure, monitoring and security best practice.
  • Experience working in Regulated Financial Services clients, ideally mortgage origination/administration systems.
  • People first manager.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A passion for modern, inclusive engineering leadership and ability to inspire and develop others.
