Hawksworth are hiring now for a ‘Solace Middleware Engineer’ for an Investment Bank based in London. This is a Contract vacancy for a six month assignment initially. Paying Inside IR35 £700 per day to the umbrella company. Hybrid working, London location, x 3 days a week on site and x 2 days from home per week.

The role: You will join a Middleware & application platform support team that are dedicated to low-latency infrastructure supporting electronic trading systems across forex (FX) and Fixed Income (FI) markets. Core focus is ‘Solace Messaging Infrastructure’ (Primary focus), and then Trading Middleware Integration, Monitoring & Performance, Market Connectivity etc. As the Solace Middleware Engineer, you will be the key member of the team responsible for the support, management and evolution of the Solace messaging infrastructure that underpins the Banks electronic trading business across FX and Fixed Income markets.

Essential Skills:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Solace PubSub+ platform (appliances and software brokers)
  • Deep understanding of Solace messaging patterns: direct messaging, guaranteed messaging, request-reply, publish-subscribe.
  • 10+ years’ experience in technical platforms or infrastructure support
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration with focus on network and messaging performance tuning.
  • Good Network Infrastructure understanding including multicast routing, firewalls and low-latency network design.
  • Automation and scripting proficiency (Python, Shell scripting, SQL)
  • Database engineering knowledge of trade data persistence and analytics
  • Application design and architecture understanding, particularly for distributed trading systems.

Desirable skills:

  • Solace certifications (Solace Certified Administrator, Solace Certified Developer)
