Hawksworth are looking for an experienced Infrastructure & Network Security Specialist for a large Insurance firm based in Guildford. Hybrid working with 1-2 days a week onsite. Salary banding between £75k and £80k. We are looking for good communication skills, able to communicate well with internal and external suppliers, stakeholders and teams. This role will be heavily involved with Security Controls / Governance and Supplier Management.

This is a high-impact position where you’ll take ownership of IT security risks, influence senior stakeholders, and help shape the future of infrastructure security across a large, multi-national environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for governing and enhancing infrastructure and network security, ensuring robust controls, compliance, and continuous improvement across IT systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning IT security risks and controls across infrastructure and networks
- Driving risk mitigation and remediation activities to completion
- Partnering with IT, security, and business stakeholders to strengthen security posture
- Overseeing third-party providers and ensuring adherence to security frameworks
- Supporting audits, regulatory compliance, and internal controls
- Contributing to security strategy and investment cases
- Ensuring secure delivery of projects during service acceptance
We’re keen to speak with candidates who bring a mix of technical depth and governance experience, including:
- Good Security Controls / Governance and Supplier Management experience
- Good overall knowledge of Infrastructure & Network IT Security
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CRISC are highly desirable
- Knowledge of NIST, COBIT, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, ITIL
- Deep understanding of network, infrastructure, and workplace architectures
- Experience with firewalls, proxies, email gateways, routing technologies
- Solid grasp of IT risk management and security frameworks
- Exposure to IAM, vulnerability management, and security tooling
- Scripting/automation experience (e.g. PowerShell, Python)
- Experience managing third-party / offshore providers
- Strategic, business-facing role with real influence
