Hawksworth UK are now hiring for a Permanent ‘Analyst/Surveillance Officer’ for an Investment Bank based in London.
Surveillance of Transactions in Global Markets, Investment Banking and Treasury.

- Some Surveillance exposure & interest
Location: London – Near Liverpool St
Hybrid working – x3 days in the office per week.
Job Description:
You will join a Compliance Surveillance Team and you will help monitor transactions across Global Markets, Global Investment Banking and Treasury. You will work within the Surveillance area to implement and perform monitoring and testing of trade alerts across all business lines. You will give input for the design of new monitoring strategies.
For this you will need:
- Analytical skills
- Python skills
- Some experience/knowledge of compliance rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Surveillance Vendor tools would be an advantage
- A good understanding of relevant monitoring and surveillance frameworks i.e. Market Abuse and Conduct Risk
Essential skills & experience:
- Degree education or equivalent
- Understanding of basic Capital market products such as Origination, Syndication, Credit and Rates, Structured Products, FX and Treasury
- Solid controls development experience – streamlining processes and controls
- Ability to review and analyse data then present results statistically in MI format
- Proven experience of delivering high quality compliance MI reports for senior management
- Proven experience of executing compliance reports and investigations or similar regulatory reports
- Understanding of Market Abuse Regulation and the associated Alert Scenarios, including but not limited to: Layering/Spoofing, Front Running, Wash Trades, Ramping, Cross Product/Venue Manipulation, Manipulation of Benchmarks
- Prior experience in e-Communications surveillance, trade surveillance, market abuse, market conduct or compliance within an investment bank
- Understanding of EU and UK Compliance requirements, regulatory and exchange requirements - in particular with respect to Market Abuse and Conduct Risk
