Role: Technology Programme Manager (Mainframe to Cloud Transformation)

Contract: 2-year fixed-term

Relocation to the Nordic region will be required.

Hawksman Technology is partnering with a prominent international bank to appoint a senior Technology Programme Manager to lead a large-scale mainframe-to-cloud transformation. This is a highly strategic role, central to one of the organisation’s most critical modernisation initiatives, focused on migrating legacy systems to a scalable, cloud-based architecture.

Working closely with the Technology Leadership Team, you will take ownership of programme delivery end-to-end—ensuring execution, technical alignment, and stakeholder engagement across a complex and high-impact transformation.

In this role, you will combine strong programme leadership with a solid understanding of cloud and legacy modernisation, enabling the organisation to transition from mainframe environments to modern, cloud-native platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale mainframe-to-cloud transformation programme, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Define and drive programme structure, governance, and execution across multiple workstreams (engineering, infrastructure, product, and business).
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to shape migration strategies, including re-platforming, refactoring, and cloud-native adoption.
  • Manage senior stakeholders across technology and business functions, ensuring alignment, transparency, and momentum throughout the transformation.
  • Identify and mitigate programme risks, dependencies, and technical challenges associated with legacy system migration.
  • Establish clear reporting frameworks, providing executive-level insights on progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Drive coordination across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery and integration of new cloud-based solutions.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in programme management, with a strong track record delivering large-scale technology transformations.
  • Proven experience leading mainframe modernisation and cloud migration programmes within financial services or complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, migration strategies (rehost, replatform, refactor), and modern architecture principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stream programmes with significant technical and organisational dependencies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior leadership and aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Strong delivery focus, with the ability to drive execution in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
  • Experience establishing governance frameworks, reporting structures, and programme controls.
