Our client is a well-established Interior Contractor based in London, delivering high-quality decorating, refurbishment and interior finishes projects across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team. This role would suit someone with previous construction experience who is looking to build a long-term career within estimating. Estimating experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training and support can be provided for the right individual. Candidates from backgrounds such as Construction Administration, Document Control, Project Coordination, Quantity Surveying support, Site Administration or similar construction-related roles are encouraged to apply.

The Role

  • Assisting with the preparation of tenders and estimates
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Taking off quantities from drawings and project information
  • Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Producing cost comparisons and pricing schedules
  • Assisting with bid submissions and tender returns
  • Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and clients
  • Maintaining estimating records and databases
  • Supporting the commercial team with project handovers
  • Managing and organising project documentation
  • Assisting with value engineering exercises and alternative proposals
  • Helping to prepare presentations and tender submissions
  • General administrative support to the estimating department

About You

  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Estimating experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read technical drawings would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial construction environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to build a career in estimating
