We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shopfitting Joiner / Carpenter Working Foreman to oversee and lead carpentry works on-site while managing a team of tradespeople. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on carpentry expertise with leadership skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Management:
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently.
  • Plan and schedule tasks for the carpentry team and other trades.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Carpentry Duties:
    • Carry out hands-on carpentry tasks, including but not limited to framing, joinery, fitting, and finishing.
    • Provide guidance and technical expertise to the carpentry team.
    • Inspect completed carpentry work to ensure it meets project requirements.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate, and mentor the on-site carpentry team.
    • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability.
    • Conduct regular site briefings and tool-box talks.
  • Communication and Coordination:
    • Liaise with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure seamless project delivery.
    • Report on progress, challenges, and solutions to senior management.
    • Order and manage materials, ensuring adequate stock levels on-site.

    Key Skills & Experience Required:

    • Proven experience as a Carpentry Foreman or similar role in construction.
    • Strong carpentry skills with the ability to complete high-quality work.
    • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
    • Solid understanding of construction processes, drawings, and regulations.
    • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with health and safety legislation.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry or equivalent (preferred).
    • SSSTS or SMSTS certification (essential).
    • CSCS card (essential).
    • First Aid certification (essential).
    • Full UK Driving License (desirable).
