We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing commercial flooring and tiling contractor based in Essex. The business delivers projects across London and the South East for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Main Contractors, working within fit-out, retail, healthcare, education, commercial and new build sectors.
This is a full-time role offering responsibility for the commercial and financial management of multiple projects from tender stage through to final account. The position suits candidates at Junior, Intermediate or Senior level, with responsibilities adjusted to match experience. A commercial construction background is essential, while flooring or tiling experience is beneficial but not required. Some estimating exposure is included, with training provided if needed.
Key Responsibilities- Manage cost control, forecasting and reporting across live projects, including monthly valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Responsible for cost and value reconciliations, subcontract administration, contract compliance and commercial reporting.
- Regular site visits to carry out measurements, review progress and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Close collaboration with project management teams, clients and supply chain partners, including negotiation of subcontract packages and ongoing commercial relationships.
- Support tendering and estimating activities where required, producing take-offs, material quantifications and assisting with pricing submissions.
- Contribute to improving commercial processes, supporting cost-saving initiatives and helping develop the wider commercial function.
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or specialist subcontracting, ideally with exposure to Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and confidence managing multiple projects are key.
- Knowledge of JCT contracts is essential for intermediate and senior levels, with NEC experience beneficial.
- Organised, commercially minded and comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider project team.
- £60,000 – £80,000 per annum (DOE)
