A well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor based in Essex is seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial Electrical Estimator to join their expanding team. With over 30 years of expertise delivering high-quality M&E solutions across London and the South East, the company continues to grow and is now looking to strengthen its commercial function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and commercially aware Estimator to join a stable, reputable business with a strong pipeline of work and long-term career prospects.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for commercial and industrial electrical projects from initial enquiry through to final submission.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to fully understand project scope and requirements.
  • Produce detailed take-offs and cost plans for labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure best value pricing.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for compliance and commercial suitability.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide professional advice on electrical systems and cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions where required.
  • Maintain organised tender files and ensure clear audit trails for all estimates.
  • Support the commercial and operations teams with handover information following successful tenders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.

Mechanical estimating experience is preferred but not essential.

Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating and tendering within the commercial or industrial electrical sector.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methods.
  • Mechanical estimating experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Confident communicator able to liaise with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Diploma of Higher Education (or equivalent) in a construction or engineering-related discipline (required).
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to hit the ground running.
Salary & Benefits
  • Competitive salary of £50,000 – £75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Pension scheme.
  • 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays.
  • On-site parking.
  • Monday to Friday working hours.
  • No weekend working.
  • Permanent, long-term position.
