The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a central role in producing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost plans and tender submissions. You\βll collaborate with internal teams and a strong external supply chain to evaluate all costs, identify risks, and ensure commercially viable proposals.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope.
Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Work, and cost breakdowns.
Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring best value.
Undertake site visits where required to gather information and assess risks.
Work closely with the New Business Team to produce compelling, accurate tenders.
Support in negotiations and presentations to clients when required.
Track and report on market rates, industry trends, and competitor activity.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards at all times.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction or built environment sector (main contracting experience desirable).
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to produce accurate costings.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and estimating software (e.g. Conquest, Causeway, or similar).
Organised and methodical with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Confident in liaising with clients, consultants, and subcontractors at all levels.
A collaborative team player with a professional approach.
