Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Office-based with Hybrid Working (2-3 days per week in the office). £60,000 - £75,000 + Employee Ownership Benefits. Due to continued growth and an expanding order book, our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their friendly and collaborative commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist contractor delivering high-quality landscape and external works projects, taking full commercial ownership of projects from inception through to final account.
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a close-knit commercial team and managing a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from £100,000 to £2.5 million. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the detail of project delivery, working closely with Contracts Managers, procurement teams, suppliers, and site teams to ensure commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects from inception to final account
- Preparing valuations, variations, cost reports and final accounts
- Procurement of materials and supplier management
- Supporting Contracts Managers throughout project delivery
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Managing project costs and ensuring commercial performance
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project teams
- Preparing CVRs and monthly reporting
- Negotiating change management and achieving positive commercial outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with JCT and NEC contract forms
About You
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys understanding how projects are built and wants to play an active role in successful delivery. Ideally, you’ll have:
- 4-5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience
- Experience within: Landscaping, Groundworks, Civil Engineering, External Works, Roofing, Waterproofing, Specialist Subcontracting
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Experience with valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts
- Working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam (or similar software)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage your own projects independently
