Hawkes Recruitment is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Assistant to join a busy commercial team. You’ll gain experience across procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting, supporting experienced Quantity Surveyors on live projects. This is an opportunity for someone with construction commercial experience who wants greater responsibility and a clear route to develop within Quantity Surveying. You may already be an Assistant QS or Junior QS, or working as a Commercial Assistant or Commercial Coordinator. Benefits package Salary inclusive of travel. Discretionary bonus. The role Based in Central London, you’ll work closely with the commercial and project teams to keep costs, procurement and project information accurate and up to date. Your responsibilities will include: * Obtaining quotations from subcontractors and suppliers. * Comparing prices and supporting procurement decisions. * Tracking project costs and maintaining commercial records. * Assisting with applications for payment and valuations. * Recording variations and supporting their pricing and submission. * Helping prepare commercial reports. * Liaising with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients. * Supporting Quantity Surveyors across multiple live projects. About you You’ll have experience in a construction commercial role, good attention to detail and confidence working with figures. You’ll be organised, comfortable communicating with suppliers and project teams, and keen to understand the commercial decisions behind successful projects. Experience within specialist subcontracting would be particularly relevant, including flooring, fit-out, joinery, interiors, tiling or stone. Other construction backgrounds will also be considered. Your current title is less important than the experience you bring and your willingness to take on more responsibility.
