Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (35 hours per week)
Location: Primarily site-based, with hybrid working available following probation and for project-based work
The Role
We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Support Engineer to join a small IT team during an exciting period of transformation.
The organisation is modernising its IT estate, embracing modern workplace technologies and adopting new ways of working.
This role will play an important part in supporting that transformation, from technology selection and implementation through to ongoing technical support and improvement.
You will work across a predominantly on-premises Wintel infrastructure, while helping to support the longer‑term transition towards cloud‑based technologies and a serverless computing strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional looking to take the next step towards a 3rd Line Support / Infrastructure Engineering position.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain and improve the organisation's IT infrastructure.
- Support the transition towards modern workplace and cloud-based technologies.
- Analyse existing infrastructure and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Research and recommend appropriate technologies and solutions.
- Ensure infrastructure improvements align with cybersecurity objectives.
- Provide 3rd-line technical support and assist the IT support team with escalated issues.
- Undertake project-related activities designed to improve and support the IT estate.
- Participate in change management activities.
- Support joiner, mover and leaver processes, including device and account provisioning.
- Carry out regular patching, upgrades and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and undertake predictive failure analysis.
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents, including remediation and continuous improvement.
- Produce technical documentation to support IT processes and workflows.
- Provide occasional support outside core hours for planned upgrades and maintenance.
- Travel to UK and European branch sites may occasionally be required.

About You
This role would suit an experienced IT professional who has developed their career through an IT support environment and is now looking to progress into a more senior infrastructure and engineering role.
You will be
- Customer-focused, with a strong understanding of end‑user requirements.
- Comfortable tailoring your communication and approach to different audiences.
- A broad IT generalist capable of working across multiple technical disciplines.
- Able to switch between technologies and priorities depending on the situation.
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a small IT team.
Experience Required
Ideally, you will have at least two years' experience in a similar infrastructure/support role.
Alternatively, candidates with around five years' experience across IT who are looking to step up into an infrastructure engineering position will also be considered.
