An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality or Technical Supervisor to join a busy Quality and Technical team based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement through testing, auditing, investigation, and quality assurance activities. This position is ideal for a quality professional with experience in a food, feed, manufacturing, or similar regulated environment who is passionate about maintaining high standards and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct product and environmental quality testing, including NIR testing where applicable.
  • Collect and manage samples for internal and external laboratory analysis.
  • Arrange the transfer of samples to external laboratories.
  • Record and report testing results, highlighting issues promptly.
  • Carry out trend analysis and prepare statistical and quality performance reports.
  • Manage non-conforming products and returns, ensuring appropriate recording, investigation, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and support resolution processes.
  • Complete product traceability exercises and support audit requirements.
  • Review and improve quality processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Maintain quality documentation and document control systems.
  • Support external audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Conduct internal quality, housekeeping, and compliance audits.
  • Report audit findings and support corrective action implementation.
  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality-focused role.
  • Experience working with external laboratories.
  • Knowledge of feed testing techniques (NIR) would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of HACCP principles would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience within a food, feed, manufacturing, or similar environment is desirable.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
